Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Developer to undertake restructuring and development of the Company’s internally developed and propriety software. This would ideally suit someone looking for the next stage of their career development and the opportunity to establish their own software development environment. You will lead all software activity within the Company and create structured approaches for software design and implementation to guide and support the development engineering team. Using a strong background in technology and IT you will be generating innovative and critically enabling software solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evolve current software solutions within the Company
  • Specify, design and validate new software modules in support of design, manufacture and test
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new and existing software or applications
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration, feasibility and usability
  • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility
  • Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team
  • Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
  • Approve final product before release

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience 3+years as software developer
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles and their application
  • Excellent knowledge of software, application design and structure
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with commercial optical simulation packages such as FDTD or BPM advantageous
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (e.g. Matlab, Python, Visual Basic, C)
  • Experience with CAD, CNC or 3D printing software/algorithms advantageous
