Optoscribe delivers OptoFan™ Multicore Fiber Fanout solution

Multicore fiber (MCF) has the potential to dramatically increase data bandwidth in networks and systems, particularly in application areas where cable density is critical. Every run of MCF requires a fanout device to enable access (connection with) each of the single mode cores. 

Optoscribe’s 3D OptoFan™ is a series of glass components designed to interface MCFs and single mode fibers (SMFs) in a monolithic, scalable, compact solution with best-in-class core positioning accuracy. Optoscribe’s unique technology consists of laser written 3D waveguides which act as an interface between MCFs and SMFs.  OptoFan™ can dramatically increase the amount of data transferred across an optical fiber whilst minimising space, and it can be also customised to suit different interface geometries and other core layouts. This is especially important where the users supply their own fiber and core positioning accuracy is key.

Optoscribe’s 3D OptoFan™ multicore fiber fanout is compact and fully packaged for plug and play integration and comes with MCF and SMF in both 4, 7 and 8 channel configurations as standard. Custom configurations are available on request.
